Summary
On May 11 2026 Anthropic announced that the Claude Platform on AWS is now generally available, giving AWS customers full access to the Claude API with AWS IAM authentication, CloudTrail audit logging, and a single AWS invoice that fully retires against existing commitments. The platform ships all native Claude features—including Claude Managed Agents (beta), Advisor strategy (beta), web search, code execution, Files API (beta), Skills (beta), MCP connector (beta), prompt caching, citations, and batch processing—at the same time new models such as Claude Opus 4.7, Sonnet 4.6, and Haiku 4.5 become available. Customers can deploy agents at scale, use the Claude Console with prompt improver, generator, and evaluation tools, and operate in most AWS commercial regions with global and U.S. inference geographies. The service is a first‑of‑its‑kind offering from Anthropic that keeps data processed outside the AWS boundary while giving day‑one feature parity with the native platform. For teams that need data residency within AWS, Claude on Amazon Bedrock remains an alternative that keeps data inside the AWS boundary. This launch simplifies access for AWS customers, enabling them to stay within familiar IAM policies and billing structures while leveraging the latest AI capabilities.
